Itinerary for SITW 2004

August 25: Arrive Johnston Wilderness Campus: Noon-3pm. Please do not be late. The program begins at 3pm. If there are things you need to do in Walla Walla, (registration, buy stuff, see friends, etc), please come earlier, as there may not be time to do such things after this time. August 27: Depart JWC, drive to Wallowa County Camp

August 28: Orientation Day in the Field

August 29-September 11: Ecology Course with Mary O’Brien, and related activities

September 12-13: Camp on Salmon River

September 14-24: We make our way through the Idaho panhandle, Missoula, the Greater Yellowstone area, and the Jackson Wyoming area.

September 25-27: Dinosaur National Monument and Moffat County, Colorado. View detailed itinerary.

September 29-October 1: Elko Nevada Area

October 3: Begin writing course with Paul Hoornbeek, Mono Lake, California, and throughout the Eastern Sierra Nevada area. Class ends October 14

October 15-16: Las Vegas. View detailed itinerary.

October 18: Begin Canoe trip down Green River, near Moab, Utah. 5 days, 4 nights (Break)

October 24-November 4: Writing course with Ellen Meloy, 4 Corners area. We will be based near Bluff, Utah.

November 6-7: Chaco Canyon, New Mexico. View detailed itinerary.

November 8: Begin Ecology Course with Paul Arbetan, Santa Fe area

November 12-14: Silver City, NM

November 15-19: Finish Ecology Course across the border in Sonora, Mexico (near Douglas, Arizona) Valid ID (driver’s license, etc) required to cross border. Passport not a bad idea if you have one, but not necessary.

November 20-26: Border Area. Thanksgiving Day in the Field Nov. 25. View detailed itinerary.

December 2: Arrive JWC. Finish projects, prepare public presentations.

December 7-8: Public Presentation of Epiphanies on Whitman Campus

December 9: Program Ends (please don’t forget to arrange housing/transportation after this date)
